A Smiley Score

This is one way of assessing your pupils work.

We as teacher, usually give certain numbers for evaluating our students work such as giving number ten or one hundred or other numbers to determine whether students’ work is done well or not. We also may give them a particular word for instance excellent, very good even poor to theirs. However, those ways are rather boring for them. Thus why don’t we give them an exciting score to attract their attention? We call it a smiley score. How does it work?

After students accomplish and submit their works to the teacher, give them score by drawing a circle resemble a human head who has smiling face🙂 representing a very good score
and a frowning face😦 for a poor score.

At the first time your students have a smiley score, I gurantee they will smile and smile. And Next they will be encouraged to do the best work for having a smiley score.

Yes I agree with one of these ways to assess student work. because when a teacher gives an assessment of the tasks done by the students, rightly rendered images smiling for a good value and frowning faces when they get a less good or even bad, but in addition to providing images smiling for a good value and image furrowed forehead to the face value that is not good, we should be able to provide more support and motivation so that they would try to get good grades and be happy because it provides smiling picture book of job them. And also maintaining full motivation that has been owned student get good grades, so that the future value they always get the best.

I think so, I agree with that assessment because it can motivate students to get best score in order to get smiley score and she/he will satisfied for her/his result.
But what if there is a case,
examples; The student get the score by drawing a circle resemble a human head who has smiling face🙂 representing a very good score and a drawing face😦 for a poor score.
then the student said that “if i get smiley score, whether the expression of my face should look like smiley score?”

    How about it Mrs?…

I think this assessment is very good for students because most students have fun with animated images like smiley faces and frown faces. because teachers must be able to provide an objective assessment of the students. A teacher required to master the ability to provide an assessment to the learners. This capability is important in the evaluation of learning ability. Of assessments that a teacher can know the ability that has been mastered by the learners.

I think that’s good idea .. because they love picture ,as we know that are emotions,if they got a smiley score they’ll proud and show to their friends.and otherwise if they got frowning score it’ll encourage them to be better in the future.

I do agree with this way to give our students smiley score for their achievements. That’s more polite than we give them nominal score. But, I think this smiley score is only used for kindergarten students or 1st/2nd grade of elementary school. Because in that level/grade, the students love cartoon or love to see emotion icons like as smile faces & sad faces. And we as a teacher have to choose what lesson that suitable to use that smiley score in scoring student’s tasks. Because if we use that icon in scoring 6th grade student’s tasks of Math, I’m sure they won’t get motivation to get higher score…:)

    That’s a good idea.
Maybe giving score use number and a particular word make the students feel bored.
And with smiley score the students can more interest and can attract their attention.
But if we often use the smiley score, it’s possible can make the students feel bored.
So, better if we combine smiley score, number score and a particular world, or we can use them alternately.;)

      Honorable my lecturer Miss. Resti
I think it is good miss. But sometimes there are children who do not want to accept a frowning face: (for a poor score., So it was problem for me when I teach. Finally, I give different quantity smile scores to all of my students, because all my students appreciate their willingness to do the task, but of course I distinguish if the value is good I gave 2 or more smile scores, and which the value is still less, I give the value just one smile score. ^_^

      Wassalaam wr.wb

I think smilly score is a good asessment way . it can we use in assessment for children (3-7 years old), because the children at the age of 3-7 years old more like “pace expression” such as smily score. If they get smily score they fallhappy and they will be more motivated to study hard for they can get smily score in their assigment.

I think smiley score is good score for children or young learner (4-6 years old) it can them motivation in their study. So they can get more motivation to study their assigmant. But don’t judge the student with frowing score in the firsh their assigmant. Teacher should make them interesting with the material

So do I, I agree with this way because it’s one of the unique and creative way for teacher in giving students’ score. Usually some teachers always give score to their student by number or letter. The children very like with the picture than number or letter. It can make students happy and more interesting in studying. It will give they spirit in studying to get good score. We can also use symbols such as stars, fruits, emotions and other for giving a good or bad score to our students.🙂

I strongly agree with this method.
because, these methods can help students to be more in the spirit of the tasks given by the teacher.
regardless of the value they can if the teacher gives , his score by emotion or the other they would look happy.
and they will learn better to be able to get the best results of the emotion they receive more and more and the better.
and it is a unique and extraordinary in my opinion
and is helping to develop student performance
and we do not just use any emblem emotion
can also use other symbols to give the best score for a student or otherwise.🙂😉

I agree with the format of such assessments miss, because I never use this assessment when I taught first and second grade students. They are very happy especially coupled with the image of the star. This assessment very effectively to motivate student learning in class. Students will be more enthusiasm in learning and trying to get good grades. Besides engaging learning methods, assessment methods must also be attractive because students will be more interested in learning.
Thank you miss has motivated me to be a teacher who can use the system PAIKEM learning.

some students may be like or happy with smiley score I agree with that. that can make them felt that they can do good or fail the exercise but we as a teacher can used smiley score in 1st until 3th class. because i we used the smiley score until they graduated, they will felt surprised in JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL and SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.
and I think we may used smiley score in a limited class.

yes, I agree with a way of assessing students with give them score by drawing a circle resemble a human who has smiling face representing a very good score and a frowning face That student does not stress and feel happy doing assignments, they will do it from the heart and not feel a task force is that they are enjoying these lessons, diligent school because the school is very pleasing their hearts, because the teacher gives motivation in learning.

It is a good alternative assessment way to encourage the student’s motivation to do the student’s work better and better. Indirectly, it can motivate them to study harder to get the ” Big Smile ” score again and again. But for the high grade, a smiley score is not suitable enough because it can’t determine the score they get precisely like using number.

Smileys score is scoring using emoticon. It intends to make student be more encouraged in doing task. They will be they happy if they get ” Smile” score and are always going to try hard to get smile in every task.

I Agree with this way. because I agree with this way. This makes sense because of the way our students are happy after what he try to complete the task of the teacher then gives the teacher because the students have the responsibility, and as a reward from the teacher to the learner the teacher must give a performance that has been achieved by the participants learners. one of the teachers to assess the students in addition to providing a numeric value, the other way is to give a smile score. This unique highly effective way to develop self-confidence and sense of responsibility to the students to accomplish tasks and have the enthusiasm to achieve good performance.

I agree this way. I think it is a good idea. according to my opinion it can motivate students to participate in learning activities in earnest. in order to collect a lot of animated smile. when I went to school in kindergarten. I am very motivated to get a lot of stars. My teacher always graded by giving the star image. so I always tried to follow the lessons well. so I can do the work in earnest. and got a lot of stars. on the other side of the learning objectives were achieved.
